GC update preview 30 July 2005
The long awaited GC (Galactic Conquest) update is coming soon, when ? We are not sure when its close to be done we will announce it (usually about 1 week before hand). If you wish to help speed up updates, you can help by donating to us by clicking on the donate/subscribe button on the bottom or bottom left of the screen after logging in. We have 35,000 active players and if every once were to even donate $1 a month, I can gurantee the game will be improved by a ton :) Update: After discussing with a number of players and admin and from the test results from the close beta testing, all the testers and admins recommended that the update is to be tested on a longer scale first before releasing the update. This will ensure everything is iron out first before putting it up. The below is the proposed changes and additions. It is still subjected to feedback from players so if you are in anyway unhappy or happy that any of this features, please let us know by emailing to info[a]gamestotal.com with the subject `GC Update Comments` and give us your comments. As a reminder: 1. Defination of propose is: "To put forward for consideration, discussion, or adoption", therefore it is open for discussion. When ? Let us finalize some stuff first then I`ll set it up. This can be none or even all of the proposed will take place. The number of things that will take place depends on your (yes all you players) votes and comments. 2. A great number of this is proposed by players themselves 3. GC is not going to be like UC (multiple fleet/systems) and this is a proposed change only. 4. We will know what to put in place after some innitial test has been done to ensure changes will not: unbalance the game & totally change the way the game is Note: All the items highlight with * will be implemented, the rest are `proposed` Changes Server renamed to game speed Server wil be renamed as game speed. For example, Normal to Daily, and so on. This will ensure less confusion with multi-server support Simplify ship research* Ship research will be simplified. So instead of tons of stuff of ship technology to be researched we have simplied this area and putting in additional areas such as projects and others. Standard upkeep Virals & collective will have a standard upkeep on all reversed engineered and captured ships. This means if you are a viral all ships except viral and neutral will have a standard upkeep. Ship changes Some minor Miner ship changes and Collective ship changes Enslavement Slave/Master will be renamed as Vassal/Lord. Enslavement attacks & 10x Pr to declare independance remains the same. Population Population does not grow by itself anymore. You will have to click on `increase` or `decrease` population in your planets (this requires turns). Population will not decrease during starvation (good for tax races). Ore Ore is not automatically mined anymore. You have to mine the planet for ore (this requires turns). Ore will still be used for constructing infrastructures on planets. Additions Multi-server support* To ensure 100% uptime, we have included mirror support. This means if 1 server is laggy or having problems you can login to another server. 3 mirror servers will be added (Game server 1, 2 & 3). New Projects System* This is on the game-engine wise. This new project system makes it easier for us to add in new projects compared to the old one. It also allows us to add in a greater number of projects too :) New Missions System* This is on the game-engine wise. This new mission system is a dynamic mission system, allowing admins to add in missions without changing the game codes. The previous missions were all hardcoded making mission creation difficult, bug ridden and takes a heck of a lot of time. New projects* Many new projects will be added to GC :) New missions* There are currently 2 acts in GC, we are planning to add in additional missions up to 4 acts :) Federation Logo* Every federation can have their own logo. This federation logo will be shown in many areas such as the ranking page. JsClient* A graphical interface with sound effect & music will be implemented for GC as well. This will make GC look more like a CD Based game :) Cool stuff eh ? Planet Defense Upgrade You can upgrade the defense of your planet. This will make it easier for you to defend this planet against attacks. For example, say your border planet has a +2 to defense, this will be added to the battle when this border is under attacked. To upgrade planet defense you will have to invest in each planet (different from UC which is given from projects & empire level). Mine for minerals You can gain additional minerals by spending turns mining for it. Minerals gain will depend on which planet you are mining on. You will still gain minerals for each turn (automatically) and this will act as a way to boost ones mineral generation. Ministers We will be adding in ministers to the game. Ministers will have economical skills only in contrast to UC (there is military skills for ministers in UC). This is to ensure the ministers does not effect the game balancing of GC. Honors Honors (planets procudes honors) can be used to buy freedom (being a Vassal) and to Vassalize other empires. Tribute You can send tribute (credits/food) to your Lord/Vassals or Federation Members
